Veridican Gospel of Jesus Christ

Chapter 10

1. The next day, Jesus was sitting by a well, for He was weary from walking.

2. There came a woman to the well to draw water, and Jesus said to her, "Will you give Me something to drink?" For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

3. The woman said to Him, "How is it that You, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

4. Jesus said to her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that says to you, 'Will you give Me a drink?' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."

5. "Sir," the woman said, "You have nothing to draw water from the well and it is too deep. Where then do You get living water? You are not greater than our forefathers are You, who gave us this well and drank from it themselves?"

6. Jesus answered and said, "Whoever drinks from this well will get thirsty soon after, but whoever drinks the water I give will never thirst; but the water that I give will become in them a well of water springing up to eternal life."

7. The woman said to Him, "Sir, give me this water, so I will no longer thirst nor have to come all the way to this well to draw water from it."

8. Jesus said to her, "Go, call to your husband and come back here."

9. The woman answered and said, "I have no husband."

10. Jesus said to her, "You have said in truth that you have no husband, for you have had five husbands and the one you are currently with is not your husband."

11. The woman replied, "I can tell that You are a prophet, so tell me what is true: Our forefathers worshiped God on this mountain, but others say that we must worship in the temple."

12. Jesus said to her, "Truly I tell you, the day is coming when neither on this mountain nor in the temple will you worship the Father.

13. "But the day is coming and is now here when the true worshipers of God will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for these are the only worshipers God desires.

14. "God is spirit, and those who worship God must do so in spirit and in truth."

15. Then the woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ); when he comes, he will show us all things."

16. Jesus said to her, "I am that one who speaks to you."

17. Now, His disciples came back from town, and they were amazed that He was speaking with a woman, yet no one said, "What do You want with her," or "Why were You speaking with her."

18. So, the woman left her water jug and rushed into the town and said to the men, "Come, see a man who told me all the things I have ever done; could this be the Christ?"

19. Therefore, they came out of the town and were coming to Him.

20. Meanwhile, the disciples were saying to Him, "Teacher, You must eat," but He said to them, "I have food to eat that you do not know about."

21. So the disciples asked of one another, "Did anyone bring Him food to eat?"

22. Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.

23. "Do you not say there is yet a season and then we will start the harvest? Behold, I tell you, look at the fields as they are right now. They are ripe for the harvest.

24. "Already the one who reaps is gathering his wages and gathering fruit for life eternal, so that he who reaps and he who sows may rejoice together. For in this case it is true that one sows and another reaps.

25. "I sent you to reap what you have not labored for. Others have labored and you have entered into their labor."

26. From the town, many of the people believed because of the testimony of the woman who said, "He told me all the things I have ever done."

27. So when they came to Jesus, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed there two more days, and many more believed His word.

28. And then when the Word came upon them, they said to the woman, "It is not for what you said that we believe, for we have heard His words for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the savior of the world."
