1. One day, as Jesus was traveling, two blind men followed Him, crying out "Have mercy on us!"
2. Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord."
3. Then He touched their eyes saying, "It shall be done for you according to your faith." And their eyes were opened, but Jesus sternly warned them to tell no one.
4. But they went out anyway and spread the news about Him throughout all the land.
5. And then a leader from among the people came to Jesus and said, "Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go. Show us the place where You are, for we must seek it."
6. But Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes and the birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no where to lay His head."
7. One of those seeking to follow Him said, "I will follow You from here on out, but first let me go and bury my father. And Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury the dead; you come and follow Me."
8. Another said, "I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home."
9. But Jesus said to him, "No one after setting his hand to the task and then looking back is fit for the kingdom of God."
10. Then the religious leaders came to Him and began to argue and demand a sign to test if He really was the Son of God.
11. But He answered them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign; but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
12. "The men of Nineveh will arise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here.
13. "The queen of the South will arise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.
14. "Truly I tell you, an unclean spirit goes out of a man and passes through the abyss seeking rest and does not find it.
15. "So, it says to itself, 'I will return from where I came,' and when it arrives back it finds its old home unoccupied and swept clean, and put in order. So it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they make their home there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first.
16. "And so it will be with this evil generation."
17. And turning to His disciples, He warned them, "beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees."
18. But after He said this to them, they began to discuss among themselves that they had forgotten to get enough bread, and Jesus said to them, "Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread?
19. "Do you not see or understand? Do you have a hardened heart already? Is it the case that having eyes, you do not see, and ears you do not hear?
20. "How many extra baskets did you fill when I fed the five thousand?"
21. And they answered Him, "twelve."
22. Then He said to them, "Do you not yet understand? Do not worry about bread; rather, be on guard against the bread the religious leaders and lawmakers prepare for you."
23. Soon after, they came to a village, and there they brought a blind man to Jesus and implored Him to heal him. So, Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village.
24. Then He spat on the man's eyes and laid His hands on them and asked him, "Do you see anything?" The man replied, "I see people, but I see them like trees walking around."
25. So Jesus laid His hands on him again, and the man looked intently, and from then on began to see everything clearly.
26. Therefore, Jesus sent him home, saying, "Do not re-enter the village."
27. Then Jesus began to teach about those who claim to be religious saying, "A tree is known by the fruit that it bears; if the tree is bad, the fruit will be bad; if good, then the fruit will be good.
28. "You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak of that which is good? For the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. The good person brings out of their treasure that which is good, and the evil bring from their treasure that which is evil.
29. "But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they will give an account for it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
