1. A few days later, Jesus and His disciples were invited to a wedding. When the wine for the wedding ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, "The wine is gone, and the guests are left without any."
2. But Jesus said to her, "Woman, what has that to do with us? My hour has not yet come."
3. But His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He tells you to do, do it."
4. So, Jesus went to the thirty-gallon water pots used for ceremonial purification and found them empty. He told the servants to fill them to the top with water. And when they had done so, Jesus told the servants, "Take a cup of this to the master of the ceremony."
5. When a servant took the cup to the master of the ceremony, he sampled the water, which had now become wine, and said to the bridegroom: "Everyone else brings out good wine, and when it is exhausted and everyone is drunk, they bring out the bad wine, but now I see that You have saved the best for last!"
6. This sign Jesus gave to His disciples, and it manifested His glory to them, and they believed in Him.
7. From there, Jesus took His disciples to the top of a mountain to avoid the crowds of people who had heard of the miracle of the wine.
8. When they arrived at the top, they sat around Him, and He taught them saying:
9. "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
10. "Blessed are you who are alone and chosen, for you will find the kingdom you came from, and you will return to it.
11. "Blessed are the ones who toil in the Spirit, for they will gain eternal life.
12. "Blessed are those who count the world as loss, for they will return to glory.
13. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for in Me they shall be satisfied.
14. "Blessed are the merciful, for they will find mercy.
15. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
16. "Blessed are those who are persecuted in their hearts, for they will find the Father.
17. "Blessed are you when people insult you, and persecute you, and lie about you on account of Me. Rejoice in this and be glad, for so their fathers treated all the prophets who came before you.
18. "But woe unto those who are rich in this world, for their reward is the world.
19. "Woe to those who are self-righteous and judge themselves to be good, for their wretchedness will keep them far from the kingdom.
20. "Woe to those who love their life in this world, for their loss will be complete.
21. "And woe to those who are well praised in this world, for so it is the world that praises all manner of evil."
